Staying up to date with your classwork is an important part of avoiding failure. While turning in work on time is best, late work will be accepted. The following rules apply to late work in my classroom:
- Late work will not be accepted after the end of the quarter in which it is due. In other words, work due 1st quarter will not be accepted in 2nd quarter, and so on.
- Work becomes late the day AFTER it is due. If you are absent on the due date, turn it in on your first day back.
- Late work will have 2% of the grade reduced for every day it is late, up to 20%. That reduction occurs ON TOP OF any point lost due to incorrect work. For example, if an assignment with 20 points is turned in four days late and you lost two points due to incorrect answers, you would get a grade of 82%. Four days = 8%. 18/20 = 90%. 90%-8% = 82% or a B-.
- For each day absent, you are allowed one extra day to turn in the work, per district policy (page 28). For group assignments, it is important that you communicate with your group members in case there is something you can do from home. If you have the time and energy to play on your phone while sick at home, you have time to contact your group members.
