8th grade students will complete the Automation and Robotics coursework. This involves learning about robots and mechanical systems. Students will see how robots are already being used in various careers, ranging from medicine to manufacturing. Then, students will learn about programming, controlling robots using code.
In the 2018-19 school year, the App Creators unit was added to the curriculum. This unit will teach the principals of computer programming through learning how to design mobile apps to help solve problems. The learning will be using Android devices (sorry iOS fans).
An Advanced PLTW class was being added in the 2018-19 school year. Students in the advanced class will complete the regular 8th grade curriculum, but go more in depth into the lessons to learn advanced techniques. Additional topics to explore include electronics and 3D Modeling. The Guinea Pi...students in this class will also help test new project ideas to be used in other classes.
